Imagination's communications technologies enable 'living in the cloud' for everyone, everywhere at CES 2013
International CES 2013, Las Vegas, USA: Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia and communications technologies company, is demonstrating the connectivity and cloud technologies that will drive the next wave of connected home technologies to mass market penetration at CES 2013 (LVCC South Hall 4 Suite S215).
Imagination develops and licenses advanced technologies powering today's multimedia-rich and mobile world. Imagination's connected home technologies are being shown at CES 2013 driving connected speaker, digital radio, audio dock, smart energy and other connected home applications - enabling massive power savings compared to traditional technologies.
Imagination's MetaFlow Connected Processor platforms for the connected home combine Imagination's Meta processor, Ensigma connectivity and Flow Cloud technologies to offer a complete technology platform, enabling chip designers to create the most compelling connected home products.
A growing number of Imagination's silicon partners are offering MetaFlow-based products, which are already used by Pure and many other OEMs and ODMs to create some of the most innovative cloud-connected consumer products available today.
Says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination: "The market was telling us that the proliferation of standards and the convergence of home products were both driving a rethink of how devices must evolve to take advantage of connectivity in the Cloud era. That has been a focus of Imagination for some time now as we worked out how to enable new applications in the connected home, including not only entertainment but also home automation, security, smart energy, personal health and more. As all of these markets begin taking advantage of significantly enhanced functionality enabled by Imagination's latest Cloud and connectivity technologies consumers will be able to figuratively 'live in the Cloud' as everything from cars to toasters become connected to both the internet and each other."
Process: Meta CPU
Meta CPU technology is a comprehensive range of general purpose embedded 32-bit processors ideally suited for a wide range of application and embedded processing. Its unique hardware multi-threading and DSP capabilities enable Meta processors to power the most advanced products. MetaFlow Connected Processor IP platforms bring together a high performance 32-bit hardware multi-threaded CPU architecture (with optional 32-bit DSP capability), Ensigma RPU-based full 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communications processor that also supports more than 20 TV and radio standards) and Imagination's Flow cloud and portal technologies, all in an ultra-low power, highly cost-engineered IP package.
Connect: Ensigma RPU
Imagination's Ensigma Series4 RPU (radio processor unit) is the heart of communications processing for the modern home. Ensigma IP platforms solve the ever-growing problem of proliferating broadcast and connectivity standards by supporting them all on a single engine, and enabling them to be integrated onto SoCs for lowest system cost.
Ensigma Series4 is the ideal solution for markets including global chassis TV and set-top boxes, radio (consumer or automotive), tablets and other connected consumer products as well as embedded processors powering the Internet of Things.
A comprehensive range of standards supported make it ideal for connected TV, audio and other home applications and its 'one world, one chip' approach enables massive cost reductions for semiconductor and OEM companies.
Ensigma RPUs support all key standards for connectivity including 802.11abgn, MIMO, 802.11n, MIMO 802.11ac, (Complete, Fully Embedded, or Thin MAC with simultaneous Bluetooth).
They also enable global chassis broadcast products with TV standards including DVB-T2, DVB-T, ISDB-T, SBTVD, ATSC, GB20600-2006 (CTTB), DVB-S2,DVB-S,ISDB-S, DVB-C2, DVB-C, J.83B, ISDB-C; Analogue TV; Mobile TV including DVB-H, T-DMB, 1-Seg ISDB-T; and Radio standards including DAB/DAB+, HD Radio, 3-seg ISDB-T, ISDB-Tmm, DRM, FM, AM.
Manage: Flow
Flow is a portfolio of cloud connectivity technologies that enable consumer, industrial and embedded products powering the Internet of Things to be fully cloud-connected. Flow enables product designers to easily create their own cloud-based solutions totally optimised for their end applications, while the growing ecosystem of Flow offerings, and service and content partners, enables OEMs and ODMs to provide a rich set of cloud-based solutions that complement their own core product capabilities.
