VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) world is a 21st century real world scenario where Human Resource has a pivotal role in shaping the dynamics of the global structure. “Apart from looking inside the box, main focus should be to look inside the box.” as said by Ignace Hindrick (Senior consultant, India Consult) is a fact as present day deficiencies have to be rectified by looking inside the structure. The speakers discussed that socio, economic, cultural and ecological (sustainable) development has to go along with globalization and skilled development of Millennial (Gen Y). The world has virtually become flat, therefore smart systems such as smart cities, education and healthcare and smart manpower to construct and operate smart infrastructure is a necessity.
Mr Vijay Rai (CEO, Power Con Service Private Ltd.) said, “Let Volatility lead to Vision, Uncertainty lead to Understanding, Complexity lead to Clarity and Ambiguity lead to Agility. This is the age when either you innovate or die.”
Mr Satish Seth said, “The term VUCA was developed during the cold war by the US Military to develop rational scientific strategies during the war and is still used by them in counter terrorism activities.”
Mr Saurabh Sanyal said “India has a high demographic dividend. Public sector is stronger in India (3.1%) as compared to developed countries- USA and Canada (2%). India needs a national mission focussing on academic and research initiatives.”
Jean Harrison (Practitioner-University of Westminster-London) said, ”VUCA is thinking, planning and being ready to undertake any job.” “People should know how to work in a team and the team has to chalk out an appropriate strategy to achieve their objective.” “Employees in an organisation should use Matrix structure of working for better resource management and for facilitation of free flow of information.” “Media regulation is gaining importance around the world especially in UK. The government in UK is formulating concrete measures to regulate media to prevent unethical forms of media take advantage of their freedom and perform business neglecting their social responsibility.” Rajiv Sachdeva said, ”Younger people adapt faster to technological changes whereas older people take time due to the generation gap.” “Banks do not offer you loans very easily nowadays, earlier they used to ask 50 questions. Now they ask 500 questions for verification.”
Mr CM Krishna said that, “An organisation should work in a holistic environment. A leader has to conform to 21st century coordinates to lead a company in the 21st century. ”
Ms H. Naithani said,”Millenials (Gen Y) are skilled in their respective professions but expect more than appropriate from company and lack work ethics often.”
The seminar was divided into four sessions with a tea break after each session and a lunch break after first two sessions. The seminar started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by honourable speakers. A floral bouquet and a metallic memento were awarded to the distinguished guests at the starting and end of each session respectively.
