100 Craftsmen from 19 States To Exhibit At Dastkar Chennai Bazaar 2012

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India., January 19, 2012 - (PressReleasePoint) -Showcasing crafts &  Craftsmen from all over India, Dastkar an organization working for the Crafts and Crafts people from across India since the last Thirty One (31) years returns to Chennai after a gap of three (3) years with The Dastkar Chennai Bazaar 2012.
 
The Bazaar will be held at The Kalakshetra Foundation, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, from 20th to 29th January 2012 from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm.
 
Participating during the Dastkar Chennai Bazaar 2012, will be around 100 crafts groups, belonging to 19 states, from across India, showcasing and selling indigenous Arts, authentic to their respective regions. Visitors will also see cultural performances.
Laila Tyabji, Chairperson Dastkar said “The last Dastkar Bazaar with 60 Crafts Groups was held in the beautiful green lawns of Kalakshetra, at Chennai in the year 2009 and was an instant hit among all the age groups”.
 
This Years Bazaar will include special cultural performances by "Mohanam Sound Troupe" from Pondicherry, doing a musical program  using natural drums and other instruments, & "Rajasthani String Puppetry and Kacchi Ghodi Dance"  famously known as "Kaathputli Show", narrating events from history, myths, folklore or legend, complete with music and speech. 
 
Showcasing, exhibiting and selling indigenous arts, authentic to their respective regions, this year 100 stalls from 19 states include traditional crafts from across India.
 
From North India participants with showcase Jamdhani Sarees, Panja Durries, Beaded Jewelry, Khurja Pottery & Marble Inlay from Uttar Pradesh , Wool Weaves & Knits from Uttarakhand ,Fun products of Elephant Poo from Delhi   Beautiful Ari Embroideries from Kashmir, and Leather & Zari Jutties & Recycled Waste Products from Haryana
 
The Bazaar from Central India will have Artistic Wrought Iron Products & Gourd Decoratives from Chattisgarh, Gond Folk Paintings & Bagh Prints from Madhya Pradesh.
 
West India shows its presence with Colourful & Traditional Daboo, Bagru, Block & Akola Prints, Kota Weaves, Threaded & Beaded Jewelry, Phad Paintings, Blue Pottery , Mojaries & Lac Bangles from Rajasthan along with Colorful Bandhani & Intricate Embroideries from Gujarat
 
South Indian craft and participation is also no less with Perfumed Candles from Tamil Nadu,
Ghadwal & Upada Sarees, Khadi & Cotton Weaves, Durries, Kalamkari Paintings & Leather Puppets from Andhra Pradesh, Fascinating Lambani Embroideries, Banana Fibre, Coconut Shell Products, Wood Items, & Lacquer Toys all comes from Karnataka
 
East Indian participation will see visitors purchase Bodo Weaving from Assam, Traditional Ikat Weaves, Appliqué Work, Palm leaf Paintings, Stone, Terracotta Decoratives & Dhokra Jewelry from Orissa and Cane & Bamboo Products, Mat Weaving & Kantha Embroidery from West Bengal
