100 Days at Mall of America: Update from Mayo Clinic
New clinical, retail offerings and name change among improvements
Monday, November 21, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — During the first 100 days in a new space at Mall of America, Mayo Clinic has connected with thousands of people from across the region, country and world to help them live a healthier life. Mayo's presence at Mall of America is an exploration in health care, wellness and targeted prevention. To build on this initial success, Mayo has used feedback from guests to make several changes to better meet their needs.
"As we explore the potential for a more long-term presence at Mall of America, it has been vital to us to gather feedback from guests. It is important not only to gather feedback, but to implement changes based on that feedback," saysDavid Hayes, M.D., a Mayo Clinic cardiologist who is leading the Mall of America project. "At Mayo Clinic the needs of the patient come first, and we want to apply that philosophy to guests at our space in Mall of America."
The improvements include:
- An expanded range of clinical services will be provided on a more regular schedule in the smaller clinical space. Information will be available in coming weeks.
- The retail offerings will undergo extensive changes based on visitors' product requests.
- A free wellness assessment and gaming kiosk are now available.
- Effective today, the space will be called Mayo Clinic Healthy Living, to better reflect the facility's emphasis on wellness and prevention.
Mayo Clinic's Arizona, Florida and Minnesota campuses, and Mayo Clinic Health System will remain the patient-focused care centers that have been the hallmark of Mayo Clinic for more than 100 years. Both Mayo Clinic Healthy Living and the possibility of a permanent facility as part of the Phase II Mall of America expansion will complement these locations by providing convenient, day-to-day services to improve health and well-being, as well as offering direct connections to Mayo Clinic.
