The Wrangler was redesigned for the 2007 model year, when a four-door version - Wrangler Unlimited joined the lineup. The four-door version added practicality, offering more convenience, more cargo and rear seat space. For 2008, the Wrangler gets minor changes such as a standard tire-pressure monitor, remote startup, and a Sunrider soft top. Wranglers are powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine good for 202 horsepower (205 hp on the Unlimited), teamed with a standard six-speed manual and optional four speed automatic. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS are standard. Wranglers with 2-doors and Rubicon trims receive only four-wheel drive (4WD); Unlimited X and Unlimited Sahara trims get rear-wheel drive (2WD) or 4WD.

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most easily recognizable vehicles on the road. The 2008 Wrangler carries forward Jeep’s traditional look with round headlamps, signature seven-slot grille, a front bumper with integrated fog lamps and a more aerodynamically curved windshield to reduce wind noise. The 2008 Jeep Wrangler has more interior space than its predecessor due to its wide track. Inside the cabin the instrument panel, controls and dash are neat and compact; the gauges are easy to read, and the center console well laid out in its simplicity. A leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, adds a nice touch to a cabin otherwise flush with hard plastic for this off-road Wrangler.

The Wrangler X comes well equipped and features a six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo, 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, vinyl upholstery, center console, theft deterrent system, folding rear seat, tilt steering wheel, a basic soft top, skid plates and 16-inch all-terrain tires on steel wheels. Options for the X trim include adjustable driver's seat, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, compass, outside-temperature indicator, Sunrider soft top with a sunroof, and 17-inch all-terrain tires. Packages include a Power Convenience group, a Black Appearance group, a Trailer Tow group; plenty of other stand-alone options are also available.

The four-door Unlimited X comes with either 2WD or four-wheel drive and gets the standard equipment of the two-door X, plus adds cloth upholstery, adjustable driver's seat, 60/40-split folding rear seat, a Sunrider soft top and air conditioning.

Safety features include dual front airbags, tire-pressure monitor, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control with rollover mitigation.
