Blonder Tongue will demonstrate the FlexCoder, which can be used as a stand-alone unit, or rack-mounted two across 1RU. The unit ships with three Modes of Operation, and offers an RF input board option for transcoding an 8VSB (digital off-air) or clear QAM channel to QAM, ASI, or IP.

 

  • Mode 1: PASS-THRU converts ASI or IP video streams to QAM

  • Mode 2: DEMUX (factory default) de-multiplexes MPTS to SPTS in MPEG-2 or H.264/H.265 formats
  • Mode 3: MUX multiplexes SPTS to MPTS via IP and/or QAM in MPEG-2 or H.264/H.265 format

The possibilities are endless when it comes to integrating this product into a video distribution system, as it can transmodulate any physical layer and convert it to something else. By providing a wide-range of functionality in a compact solution, the FlexCoder brings remarkable cost savings. It is ideal for video labs and campus environments where custom channel line-ups are created for in-house distribution. The device also supports AC3, E-AC3, and AAC audio formats.

Blonder Tongue will showcase its STEP (Scalable Transcoder Encoder Platform) with a new closed-loop Statistical Multiplexing (Statmux) feature option enabling operators to add more HD or SD programs to a shared Statmux pool that fits into a QAM 256 channel.

 

The STEP Statmux feature automatically adjusts the bit rate of each MPEG-2 and/or H.264 encoded program, making the best use of the total available bandwidth for maximum efficiency.  The operator can examine each video input program, and control allocated video bit rates assigned to each program, based on content and Statmux pool priority.

Blonder Tongue’s STEP provides the unique ability to be installed on any appliance or virtual machine, for ease-of-use on any infrastructure, allowing operators to deploy more programs without increasing their network bandwidth.  Setup and management is easily controlled through a simple network GUI interface.

Studio LiveLAN System
















 

Blonder Tongue will introduce its new Studio LiveLAN solution that allows operators to deploy high-quality IP video over Local Area Networks (LAN) to any mobile or desktop device at a cost-effective price.

The Studio LiveLAN system is an end-to-end solution that enables distribution of live content over existing LAN, including Wi-Fi.  Blonder Tongue has seamlessly integrated a Channel Selection Menu, Just-in-Time Transcoding, and HLS Streaming into a single 2RU server.

The viewer can cherry-pick content by accessing the simple, web-based Channel Selection Menu via an App on Apple or Android devices, or through a web browser utilizing a unique local URL for PC and Mac computers, thus making it easy to deploy programming content to any device.

The Studio LiveLAN system is specifically tailored to applications where a large number of live programs are available (>100) and where it is not necessary to deliver all of them simultaneously. By not transcoding all programs at the same time, the overall system cost is reduced for a more affordable solution.


BT-CMTS-3000 for Hospitality, MDU, and College Campus Applications

Blonder Tongue will highlight both the BT-CMTS-3000, which allows service providers, integrators, and premise owners with a means to utilize one device to deliver data, video, and voice-over-coaxial in locations such as hospitality, MDU’s, and college campuses.

The BT-CMTS-3000 is targeted for small to medium size deployments to provide two-way data services on a coaxial network.  It is designed to support up to 200 DOCSIS 3.0, or 500 DOCSIS 2.0 cable modems.  

To ensure quality-of-service, Blonder Tongue’s BTPRO-7000 CM is available with a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem option. Displayed screen information includes frequency power, modulation type and quality parameters of eight (8) downstream and four (4) upstream channels. The BTPRO-7000 CM also provides a ping report as well as IP information received from the unit.

Blonder Tongue will demonstrate its 4K Modulator and 4K Streamer, two excellent solutions for transmitting UHD video clips over coaxial cable networks using traditional hardware. These methods are not only cost-effective and easy-to-deploy, they also give commercial facilities, such as retail chains, stadiums, arenas, and airports a means to advertise on 4K displays, leveraging video content to enhance the consumer experience.

The 4K Modulator allows delivery of 4K content over RF networks by mapping transport streams containing 4K with H.265 encoding onto RF QAM channels. The unit accepts up to 4xSPTS in H.265, H.264 or MPEG-2 formats, and outputs 4xQAM RF channels via an IP interface.

 The 4K Streamer has all of the characteristics of the 4K Modulator, while also containing the ability to upload and store on-board transport files (.ts) in H.265, H.264 and MPEG-2 formats. The user can then create up to four (4) unique playlists for output over 4xQAM RF channels or IP output via an IP interface Web GUI.
