Valcourt, Quebec, May 2, 2014 – The second edition of the BRP half-marathon will take place through the streets of Valcourt on Sunday, May 4. Come encourage the runners!
Nearly 1,000 people are registered, including BRP employees and their families and friends, as well as people in the area. The children’s race will see 150 children participate. More than 50 students from the Odyssée de Valcourt high school are also participating in the event, along with 10 members of the staff.
“For me, activities such as the BRP Half-Marathon are unique opportunities,” said Richard Gobeil, vice-president of the Valcourt plant’s manufacturing operations and honorary president of this 2nd edition. “They are occasions to celebrate; they are infusions of energy that gather us all towards a common goal: to surpass ourselves and celebrate that feat all together.”
People who want to participate have several options. A 1-kilometre route was designed for children, and 5-, 10- and 21-kilometre routes for adults. The 5 km route can also be walked.
The start and finish lines of all routes will be in front of the Valcourt Arena at 1111, rue des Cyprès. For more information on the half-marathon, visit the website www.demimarathonbrp.com.
