8e6 Survey Indicates Web Filtering is Preferred Method for Combating Spyware

ORANGE, CA (Aug. 2, 2005) - 8e6 Technologies, a leading supplier of Internet Filtering and Reporting Appliances, today announced the results of their recent Internet Security survey, revealing that Web filtering at the gateway is the most effective way to prevent Spyware by a 76% response margin, versus end-user education, desktop agents or freeware Spyware killers. The study also showed that 88% of the respondents have been a victim of Spyware, helping validate the need for serious preventative measures. 8e6 surveyed network security and IT professionals from a broad scope of industries with one to 5,000-plus employees, including education, technology, manufacturing, Internet, consulting and Web hosting, in order to learn more about how companies are dealing with current Spyware and phishing problems, and what they are looking for in available solutions. Participants were polled electronically in June 2005, and were asked a series of 12 questions regarding combating Spyware and phishing and preferred solutions. Study results included:
