,D.C., –The American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations (AAPPO) released a new white paper that

examines value-based benefit design (VBBD) strategies for PPOs at AAPPO’s 2009 Annual Forum, Feb. 8-10, 2009 in

Carlsbad,CA

.

 

In conjunction with the release of the white paper, AAPPO held a VBBD workshop at the 2009 Annual Forum. Leading experts on VBBD, A. Mark Fendrick, MD,Professor Internal Medicine in the School of Medicine and Health Management and Policy in the School of Public Health, University of Michigan and Co-Editor in Chief,American Journal of Managed Careand Edmund Pezalla, MD, National Medical Director and Chief Clinical Officer for Pharmacy Management, Aetna discussed specific value based approaches for PPOsand addresseda range of approaches to value added services that could be adopted by risk bearing or non-risk PPOs.
