Sussex’s Development XI were beaten by Bexhill in their latest outing in the Sussex Premier League on Sunday.
After winning the toss and electing to field Sussex will have been happy with their efforts after bowling out Bexhill for only 123. George Garton was the pick of the bowlers taking 5 for 36 from his 11.4 over stint. Will Fazakerley claimed 2 for 31 whilst there were also wickets for Josh Hayward, Harry McLeod and Elliot Hooper.
Sussex look well placed to overhaul the total particularly with the start the top-order had given them. Tom Haines (23), Beck Hemingway (19), Ben Shoare (15) and Leo Cammish (35) had led Sussex to 99 when the third wicket went down, however a massive collapse saw seven wickets fall for only four runs which sealed a 23-run victory for Bexhill.
The Development XI are next in action on Sunday 20th July when they take on Hastings at Horntye Park (12.30pm start).
