ACC names BDP's Michael Ford 'Responsible Care ® Employee of the Year'
PHILADELPHIA, May 13, 2010 – Michael Ford, vice president of regulatory compliance and quality for BDP International, has received the American Chemistry Council's (ACC) "Responsible Care Employee of the Year Award" for a partner company. The award is presented to both a member company and partner company employee who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and exemplary performance in Responsible Care.
"For more than twenty years, Responsible Care has represented a common commitment of companies working together to continuously improve our industry's performance," said ACC President and CEP Cal Dooley in presenting the award before a group of 300 chemical industry executives at Council's annual Responsible Care conference in Miami earlier this month. "The companies and individuals recognized today have distinguished themselves as leaders in our commitment to sustainability."
Ford received the award for his exceptional leadership as an industry knowledge leader within the supply chain community. In addition he was recently selected to head ACC's partner steering committee, ensuring the goals of the Responsible Care program are met, and that partner companies are complying with guidelines set forth by the Council.
"The American Chemical Council is one of the most respected industry associations in the world, and its Responsible Care Program has set the gold standard for best business practices in health, safety and the environment for more than a quarter century," said BDP President and CEO Richard J.
Bolte, Jr. "Michael Ford has raised the bar of our affiliation with ACC to a whole new level."
With more than 30 years of experience in global logistics, Ford has served on the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection's Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations, counseling the Departments of Treasury and Homeland Security on trade compliance and facilitation, supply chain security and other issues. He also has received the agency's ACE award for leadership as the co-chair of the Trade Support Network Exports Committee.
