Solution allows Cable/MSOs to gracefully upgrade business services with value-added SLAs
Montreal, CANADA – February 19, 2014 – Accedian Networks, the pioneer of Performance Assured Networking™ solutions, today announced a Cable Operator/MSO solution, which consists of the new antMODULE™ combined with the award-winning Accedian V-NID™. This solution also utilizes the power of network functions virtualization (NFV) offload in order to scale this solution in a centralized manner.
“Business services are playing an increasingly important role in the cable industry's growth strategy, as shown by last week's move by Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) to acquire Time Warner Cable® (NYSE: TWC),” said Alan Breznick, Senior Analyst, Cable Technology, for Heavy Reading. "So cable operators are eagerly seeking new ways to enhance their commercial services offerings using their existing networks."
Accedian Networks’ Cable Operator/MSO focused solution delivers 24/7 performance visibility, ultra-accurate SLA measurements, automated service activation testing and advanced troubleshooting in an end-to-end manner across the Cable/MSO business services network. All this while leveraging the operator’s existing install base of cable modems, avoiding forklift upgrades, and accelerating the Cable Operator’s growth strategy.
Accedian's antMODULE works in conjunction with the V-NID to deliver value added, SLA-based services. This solution also leverages NFV functionalities to deliver virtualized instances from the operator’s datacenter. The NFV Offload Engine leverages the simple, cost-effective yet ultra-accurate nature of the antMODULE to execute complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 performance assurance functions normally seen in costly test equipment.
The antMODULE + V-NID solution empowers Cable Operators to monetize and optimize their networks, as well as deliver a better understanding of their network infrastructure; thereby supporting network operations, customer care and application development.
“Our solutions have been integral to many of the world’s mobile operators and service providers to assure the performance of their networks and drive faster time to market. The needs of the cable industry are no different; they too require SLA measurement tools and network performance solutions with a low-risk investment strategy,” said Patrick Ostiguy, President & CEO, Accedian Networks. “The results from a recent Cable Operator survey, underscore the need for this kind of solution and demonstrate that network performance in business services over cable plants is warranted.”
