Public Debut of Asian Elephants Kamala, Swarna and Maharani

Elephant Trails at Smithsonian’s National Zoo

3001 Connecticut Ave. N.W.

Park in Bus Parking Lot, in the left lane along the bushes. Leave media credentials on your vehicle dashboard. When coming in from Connecticut Avenue, the bus parking lot is the first lot on the right, across from Lot A. Enter Olmstead Walk, head to the left to enter Asia Trail on the right, directly across from Panda Plaza.

During their public debut, Kamala, Swarna and Maharani will explore one of their new habitats, part of the larger Elephant Trails exhibit. Media will have access to capture the elephants exploring a portion of their new home from a section of Asia Trail that overlooks Elephant Trails. Tony Barthel, curator for elephants, and Marie Galloway, elephant manager, will be available for interviews about the elephants June 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
