Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Mobile computing has made wireless networking essential. This Whitepaper discusses how wireless technology IS suitable in the Data Centre environment, previously thought of as a risk.

Reading, UK, 24th  July 2014 (PressReleasePoint)

AIT Partnership Group Ltd, the leading UK integrator of Data Centre & Infrastructure Management Software (DCIM) last week (17th July) held a ‘Wireless in the Data Centre’ seminar attended by Data Centre managers from across the South. The aim of the seminar and this Whitepaper is to end the scepticism surrounding wireless in the Data Centre.
Wireless technology has in the past been considered inappropriate within the confines of a Data Centre due to the possibility of interference with critical IT equipment and breaches of security. This however is no longer the case as discussed in the Whitepaper.

New wireless technologies are just as secure, if not securer than hard wired alternatives. Mobile Device Management and Guest Access allow complete control over who can connect to your network and how much they can access.

The following applications are either enabled or enhanced by the use of wireless, which will make Wi-Fi ubiquitous in the data centre;

• Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Software
• Power Monitoring
• Environmental Monitoring
• Asset Tracking
• Personnel Tracking
