Los Angeles, September 16, 2011—Want to host an Emmy party that will be enjoyable, entertaining and engaging for your guests? Take them on a whimsical trip of movements, multiple sensations and figments of imagination  with inspiration from the this year’s Emmy Governors Ball, the celebration immediately following the Creative Arts and Primetime Emmy Awards, produced by Sequoia Productions. For the fourteenth consecutive year producing the events, Sequoia Productions President and Founder Cheryl Cecchetto is helping to take attendees on a spectacular journey inspired by the ‘60s mod era, black and white galas, and living art. Her tips on décor, food, music and more will help your guests feel like they are attending red carpet event for a fraction of the cost.

To help you throw a memorable Emmy Party at home the celebrity event producer shares these tips:

  • Capture the grand entrance— In addition to taking pictures; film your own guest arrivals effortlessly with an iPhone. First, upload the pictures to create a quick computer slideshow before the end of your party. Your guests will be surprised to watch themselves arriving at your own star-studded event. You can also upload photos to a service like Flickr or Snapfish.

  • Emulate the Emmy décor—Go to the fabric district and find inexpensive black and white fabric to fashion table cloths and buffet drapery. Depending on your budget, you may also find inexpensive black and white vases, white carnations, and black and white paper cocktail napkins. • Make it a black tie affair—Encourage guest to wear a formal or semi-formal outfit that’s black and white to match this Emmy décor. This will help your guests feel the part and become connected to the festivities and each other, even if you don’t have an actual red carpet outside.

  • Create an Emmy party playlist—Download the television theme songs of your guests’ generation like “Bewitched” and “Get Smart” and this year’s nominee’s theme music. Challenge your guests to guess the tunes.

  • Mini A-list eats and cocktails—Serve the Grey Goose Emmy cocktail and your guest s enter the party. Instead of a formal dinner, serve single-bite foods to enjoy right in front of the TV. For recipes like “Mad Men” Blood Mary Salad, “30 Rock” Shrimp Quesadilla and “Boardwalk Empire” Cookies created by Chef Sasha Perl-Raver star of the Food Network series “Private Chefs of Beverly Hills” for Sequoia, visit http://bit.ly/EmmyRecipes

  • No time to cook? No problem—Visit one of Cecchetto’s favorite shops and sites, Williams-Sonoma, which offers delicious Hors d’oeuvres choices, elegant pre-cooked entrees, and so much more. Selections such as surprising Lobster Pot Pies or classic Beef Wellington bring extravagance to your gathering without the high cost.

  • Make your guests award-winners too—Download the list of nominees, send ballots to your guests via email, and have them send in their choices for winners. At your party, count the votes and see who chose the most winners. The prize can be a boxed set of DVDs of a popular television series. For a ballot sample and prize ideas, visit the Tips You Can Use and Our Favorites section of the Sequoia Production blog.

“Remember that in the end it’s always the people participating who make the event. People are the party, and I believe as we come together to celebrate the Emmys, we celebrate each other as much as the Emmys themselves. In today’s busy and ever-changing world, there is, now more than ever, a need to commemorate together, whether it’s birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, holidays, or just life. Let the celebrating begin,” says Cecchetto.

One of the elements that made the ‘60s mod era distinctive was the dramatic makeup. Add some zing to your party by creating great makeup concepts. For a chance to win a makeup kit, color customization session and custom foundation ($400 value) from the official Emmy makeup sponsor Dinair, enter comments under the Dinair video on the Sequoia Productions Facebook page about how you would use the makeup kit for your at-home party.
