alley National Bank Promotes Maureen J. Zegler To First Senior Vice President

Wayne, NJ-Friday, November 20, 2009---Valley National Bank, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp (NYSE:VLY), has promoted Maureen J. Zegler to First Senior Vice President.

Ms. Zegler joined Valley National in 1989 as the Manager of the Allwood Branch in Clifton, New Jersey. In 1997 she was appointed as the Y2K Project Leader and in 2000 as a Regional Manager for Retail Banking in New Jersey. After Valley’s acquisition of Merchants Bank of New York in 2001, she was appointed as the New York Region Manager. Ms. Zegler was instrumental in the expansion into Brooklyn and Queens to meet the needs of our customers in those areas and was promoted as the New York Division Manager in 2008. As First Senior Vice President her responsibilities include administration of 25 New York branches within Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Ms. Zegler is responsible for strategic planning, business development, employment opportunities and overseeing customer relations in New York.
