Cricket ACT are pleased to announce that James Allsopp has been appointed to the role of General Manager – High Performance.

Following the recent announcement that Aiden Blizzard will be leaving the position to relocate to Melbourne, Allsopp was the ideal candidate to step into the role.

This role is responsible for overseeing the Cricket ACT High Performance program including the ACT/NSW Country Comets and the Abode Hotels ACT Meteors as well as developing a new generation of future first-class cricketers.

Allsopp, who is the current Head Coach of the Abode Hotels ACT Meteors, is looking forward to taking on this new challenge.

Bliz (Aiden Blizzard) has done a wonderful job of strengthening the alignment between Cricket ACT and Cricket NSW and this is something I am certainly going to look to further develop,” said James Allsopp

“The ACT is continuing to produce male cricketers who are being contracted by other states and performing exceptionally well. Nick Winters ten-wicket haul for South Australia last week is a perfect example of this.

“Next step for us is to try and get ACT players contracted to NSW from the Comets team.

“The Meteors have been competitive over the last couple of seasons but I am very determined to evolve this program so that we can start playing finals cricket in the WNCL and developing cricketers that can represent Australia.”

Cricket ACT CEO Cameron French says it was a fairly straightforward appointment given Allsopp's background.

“James has proven leadership credentials as a coach of multiple cricket programs as well as most recently as Head Coach of the ACT Meteors and Assistant Principal of a prominent High School in Sydney,” said Cameron French

“With his involvement with the Meteors, James has developed a strong understanding of the Cricket ACT programs and our people in a short period of time and we are confident that he will thrive in this role.”

Allsopp has already re-located to Canberra from Sydney and will officially commence in the role on the 12th March after a comprehensive hand-over in the coming weeks.
