Altair extends commitment to Siemens; expands use of Parasolid Designer throughout its product range
Siemens PLM Software has significantly expanded its long-standing software license agreement with Altair Engineering, Inc. (Altair), a leading global provider of software for optimizing the analysis, management and visualization of business and engineering information. The expanded agreement enables Altair to deploy Parasolid Designer software throughout its product offerings. Parasolid Designer provides Altair advanced modeling capability to seamlessly integrate with its existing core technology and to enable accelerated product development.
Plano, TEXAS, March 12, 2013 - Altair is expanding the use of Parasolid® software to include Parasolid Designer following an extensive strategic review of how to align its solidThinking and HyperWorks product suites. Altair sought a solution to augment its internally-developed core technology, which is used in HyperWorks, and concurrently align to its product suites.
“During the extensive evaluation process, Parasolid Designer proved to be the most technically advanced solution to enable accelerated development across Altair’s entire product range and to align with our established technology; this was crucial for our business success,” said Massimo Fariello, senior VP, software technology alliances and strategies, Altair. “The technical advantages of Parasolid, combined with the trust established in Siemens over the past several years, gave us confidence in our decision to select this solution. We look forward to delivering enhancements in future releases leveraging the advanced modeling functionality in Parasolid.”
“Siemens PLM Software’s position as the leading provider of PLM component software is based on providing superior technology and developing long-term mutually beneficial relationships with our licensees,” said Paul Sicking, senior vice president, Chief Technology Office, Siemens PLM Software. “We are delighted that a company of Altair’s caliber has selected Parasolid to integrate its suite of products. This decision further validates both the direction of our technology and our open strategy.”
Altair first became a Parasolid licensee in 2008, through the acquisition of solidThinking conceptual design software which uses the full breath of Parasolid Designer functionality. In 2011, Altair integrated Parasolid Communicator into its HyperWorks suite to enable translator-free interoperability with the extensive list of PLM products based on Parasolid.
