COVENTRY, 3rd January 2014: Altecnic Ltd, one of the UK’s leading plumbing products suppliers has moved to Wesupply for a consolidated approach to EDI with six of its key customers – SGBD UK, Travis Perkins, Grafton Merchanting GB, Wolseley, Willbond and Unimer.
Altecnic has been using EDI to communicate with its customers for a number of years, utilising a number of different EDI service providers, including Wesupply who were used for trading specifically with SGBD UK. However, the company reached a stage where they recognised that there was a real business need to move onto a consolidated, scalable platform. Altecnic wanted a single, company-wide EDI service that would enable easy and improved communication, whilst also providing customers with one point of contact for all EDI issues.
“A key factor for us in choosing Wesupply as our sole EDI provider was the company’s previous experience in assisting clients to consolidate their EDI on to one platform.” said Simon Grocott, Operations Manager at Altecnic. “The requirement for a minimal risk approach in terms of transitioning trading partners already using EDI with Altecnic across to the new platform was one of the main factors in our decision making process.”
Wesupply’s dedicated team of EDI implementation specialists will manage the entire implementation and on-boarding process for Altecnic ensuring a smooth transition. As a fully managed service, Altecnic will also benefit from Wesupply’s dedicated managed service team who will look after the day-to-day running on their behalf.
“Although the use of multiple EDI systems can enable suppliers to fulfil their customers’ EDI requirements, it is not an efficient way of trading electronically, particularly as a company receives additional EDI mandates.” said Jerry Quinn, Sales Director at Wesupply. “Like an increasing number of suppliers, Altecnic recognised that increased efficiencies and cost savings were possible by moving to a centralised B2B platform for all their EDI requirements.”
Altecnic’s move to Wesupply will initially focus on six of the company’s key customers, however, as Wesupply’s managed service is fully scalable additional customers, and potentially key suppliers, may be added at a later date.
