Sip and Ponder- Tea startup blends fables with specialty tea

Americans don’t know much about Aesop’s Fables; but they would like to know more.

Aesop’s Tea started business this year selling rustic brown pouches of tea to friends and family. “We had the idea to include some interesting reading on the back of the package, and we settled on Aesop’s Fables.”

Buoyed by recent economic change, the company has grown quickly due to new interest in tea and the fables. Aesop's Fables include over 400 stories with morals for wise living including a few well-known fables such as the "Tortoise and the Hare."

“Our neighbors are more willing to spend the evening at home now, and more open to drinking tea to wind down from all the stress out there.”

Based in South Carolina, Aesop’s offers over 40 different loose teas as well as Southern Style and Georgia Peach iced tea blends- specially grown to be naturally sweet and never cloud. With a warmer season approaching, Aesop's Tea is planning to hire help from the local university students to deliver tea products.

Customers receive fables weekly by email as a marketing device:

Sip and Ponder…The fox and the grapes. A hungry Fox saw some fine bunches of Grapes hanging from a vine that was trained along a high trellis, and did his best to reach them by jumping as high as he could into the air. But it was all in vain, for they were just out of reach: so he gave up trying, and walked away with an air of dignity and unconcern, remarking, “I thought those Grapes were ripe, but I see now they are quite sour.”
