Analysis of 2011 Tungsten Concentrate Price Trend

2011, the rare earth market was complex, and rare-earth prices, under national policy, external hot money and international market demand and other effects, experienced rapid increases in the first half year and accelerated declined in the second half year. Until early 2012, the overall market still keeps weak.
Monitoring data show that market retail price of high-yttrium oxide and yttrium europium compounds in January is 120,000 yuan per ton. Until July, it peaks, and became 520,000 yuan and 500,000 yuan per ton respectively. Price began to decline in August, and as of the end of December, high yttrium oxide and yttrium europium compounds are dropped to 320,000 yuan per ton. Although the drop is significantly, these two price were still 1.7 times higher than early the year.
In addition, the tungsten has also experienced the same high to low prices by up to 112,000 yuan per ton in early the year to 155,000 yuan in May, and then decline again. Although the shock rebound in the third quarter, but the fourth quarter and then decline again, As of the end of the market price of 12 per ton 137,000 tons, the annual total rose 22.3%.
