Back on track. He went to the start gate, made two good runs as if it he had never had a break. but: Daniel Albrecht’s rank 21 in the Beaver Creek GS is one of the most wonderful stories in skiing World Cup.

681 days after his horror crash in Kitzbühel, after coma lasting for weeks, complete memory loss and sensorimotor restart, the atomic athlete made a way back into (skiing) life. And quite often he was the only one who still believed in it. 22 months break – and then a hero comes along. Welcome back on track, Dani!

Never give up. Always stay “Albright”. Daniel Albrecht dreamt his dream again and again. In Beaver Creek it became true. In his comeback-race after 681 days and millions of little steps forward, Daniel Albrecht was – with rank 21 – one of the most shining winners of skiing history. “It has already been a present for me that I could even think about skiing and now I am actually back. That’s an amazing feeling”, Albrecht describes his inner life. He will decide short-term whether he is going to start in Val d’Isère. “First of all, I have to recover. The race was quite exhausting. It remains a way back for me and I have to take it step by step.” AlsoATOMICRace Director Rudi Huber shows great respect for Dani Albrecht: “He is an exceptional athlete: There aren’t many people in the world who would be able to do such a comeback – he was.”

The „athlete complete style“

Marcel Hirscher’s third place in Beaver Creek GS – a complete output of a complete athlete! Skis, shoes, bindings, helmet, glasses – everything is made by ATOMIC. Marcel Hirscher is besides Philipp Schörghofer (9th), Mario Scheiber (5th in Super G) and Benni Raich (due to backache he had to cancel the GS) an “ATOMIC Complete Athlete”. And he is happy about it: “Because for me also the styling of the equipment is important.”
