Date: 28 July 2014

The Executive Council have endorsed a recommendation that the previous custom and practice for the consideration of whether propositions are out of order, will now take place at their December meeting, instead of the Executive Council meeting in January.

This earlier consideration of propositions will allow the minority which are ruled out of order, by reason of being obscure in meaning, or not in conformity with the Rules of the Union or the law of the land, to be referred back to the proposing branch, so as to be given one final opportunity to remedy it, and re-submit the proposition for consideration by the Executive Council at their January meeting.

In view of this change, please note that proposition forms will now be sent to branches in September and will be required to be returned by late October, the full timetable will be issued to branches in September.
