Azusa Pacific University and Citrus College invite the community to pay tribute to our military men and women at the annual Saluting Our Veterans event on Wed., Nov. 8, at 11:30 a.m., on the Citrus College Campus Center Mall, located at 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., in Glendora.

The program includes keynote addresses, a military vehicle's display, Gladstone High School’s marching band, APU’s ROTC with the presentation of colors, a 21-gun salute and flag folding ceremony by the Valley Veterans Memorial Team, and veteran honorees from Azusa, Glendora, APU, and Citrus College.

APU’s veteran honoree is Janet Wessels, MSN, RN, PHN, who serves in the university’s School of Nursing. Wessels began her nursing career in the United States Navy in 1983 and serves as a Captain in the active Navy Reserve. She has held various leadership/management positions ranging from intensive care, same day surgery to hospice and home care.

MilitaryTimes included Azusa Pacific University on its Best For Vets: College 2017 rankings. This honor places APU among the nation's top 15 percent of military friendly schools. In addition, APU is a Yellow Ribbon University.
