Charanjeet Singhji Atwaal- Speaker, Punjab Legislative Assembly addressed the gathering at Arpan 2013 – Annual Cultural Week at DPGITM


Gurgaon, Haryana, India., February 22, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) -Gurgaon, Feb 2013- The grandeur campus of Pratap Singh Memorial Charitable Trust witnessed five days of mesmerising extravaganza as DPG Institute of Technology and Management celebrated its Annual Fest – “Arpan 2013”. The Fest comprised of 4th Annual Sports Meet, Inter College Competitions and concluded with an eventful day of cultural celebrations. Charanjeet Singhji Atwaal, Speaker Punjab Legislative Assembly and Ex-Deputy Speaker, Loksabha, presided over the function. Other honorary dignitaries gracing the occasion were Satbir Singh Kadyan & Gopichand Gahlot, both ex-speakers of Haryana Legislative Assembly, Gangaramji – MLA from Pataudi, Deputy Mayor Parminder Katariya amongst many others.
Addressing a gathering of more than 800 pupil, Atwaal stated that Indian education system has changed many folds over last few decades. While professional and technical courses have surged both in numbers and quality, overall learning in cultural and ethical aspects have declined. As such, Arpan 2013 shows commendable efforts by the management and students of DPGITM.
Despite rains playing a spoil sport, Sports Meet exhibited high energy amongst the players. Supporters were cheering the participants both in out-doors and in-door games. Teams were competing as per their engineering discipline. In the Kabaddi Finals, Civil Engineers defeated Mechanical Engineers grabbing the trophy. Girls were no less sporting than boys when it came to Athletic. Deepika finished first in 200 Mts while Geeta, Himanshi and Neetu led the winning line in long jump. As Cricket, Football, Kho-kho and Volley Ball continued, faculty members enjoyed their tussle with Tug-Of-War.
15 colleges of regional repute participated in Inter College Events. Competitions comprised of Poster making, Clay Pots, Rangoli, Graffiti, Flower arrangements, Debate-Declamations and Technical Working Models.
Cultural Fest was a culmination of dance and drama. Harayanavi, Punjabi and Rajasthani folk dances delighted the audience. The surprised excitement yet remained the Marathi folk dance stealing the show. The youthful event couldn’t have completed without contemporary, hip-hops and Bollywood songs and dances. One could clearly witness contentment in the face of Chairman Rajendra Gahlot as he declared the event a grand success.
