NEW YORK, Jan. 11, 2011– The ASME International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) will hold a training program for engineers involved in the operation, maintenance, and performance testing of gas turbines and related equipment.

Set for Feb. 21-25, 2011, at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, Texas, the program will consist of four short courses named “Introduction to Gas Turbines and Centrifugal Compressors,” Root Cause Failure Analysis of Gas Turbines,” Compressor Performance Testing and Dynamics,” and “Machinery Performance Testing and Troubleshooting.”

Experts at SwRI will teach the courses, which provide a blend of theoretical instruction and practical methodologies for accurately analyzing, testing, and troubleshooting system failures.  In addition to engineers, the training program also is open to turbo-machinery equipment operators and technicians along with industry service providers.

IGTI, headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., supports the exchange of information focused on improving the design, manufacture, operation and maintenance, and environmental impact of gas turbines, turbo-machinery, and related equipment.
