Atlantic Council to Host Event and Press Conference on Kremlin Interference in Elections

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Atlantic Council on July 16, 2018 will host an event entitled Pulling at the Strings: The Kremlin’s Interference in Elections from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Atlantic Council Headquarters. The event is in partnership with the Transatlantic Commission on Election Integrity and will feature US Senator Mark Warner and Senator Marco Rubio.

Following Kremlin meddling in several elections, Western governments, civil society, and the private sector must take steps to build resilience and resistance against disinformation campaigns and interference. This event will bring together members of parliaments from across the EU and Eastern Partnership countries as well as leaders from the policy community, media, and government for an important discussion.

The conference will begin with a private roundtable for US Members of Congress and European Members of Parliament in attendance, followed by a press conference with Senator Mark Warner, Senator Marco Rubio, and Members of Parliament at 1:15 p.m. This will be followed by a fireside chat session at 2:00 p.m. with Senator Warner and Senator Rubio. It will conclude with a public panel discussion at 3:00 p.m. featuring Members of Parliament and other leaders in this space.
