AUCKLANDERS AND TELECOM LIGHT UP AN ICON
The iconic Auckland ferry building is being transformed into an interactive light and sound experience on a scale never before seen in New Zealand.
The event, enabled by Telecom New Zealand and supported by Auckland City Council, is free for the public to enjoy until Tuesday 20 October.
Night Lights with Telecom celebrates the next step in Telecom’s journey towards being a more customer orientated organisation and the introduction of their new logo and branding.
“We’ve been speaking to customers who were strongly in favour of this new direction because of the freshness and commitment to change the new brand represents. So over the next few months you’ll see changes to our stores, websites, communications and advertising,” says Alan Gourdie, CEO Telecom Retail.
“The brand is designed to be less about us and more about our customers. Where previously it stood for telecommunications services, wires and networks, it now reflects New Zealanders doing what inspires them, and doing it on their terms,” says Mr Gourdie.
For Night Lights, Telecom have partnered with Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams from Inside Out Productions to bring together a team of international digital artists and animators from New Zealand, Australia, UK, USA and Japan.
As well as watching the amazing video projections mapped onto the ferry building, audiences will then have the opportunity to play and interact with the images in the show.
“This magnificent occasion will temporarily gift an important part of our city back to the people and is a great example of public and private sector collaboration in further establishing Auckland as an economically dynamic, vibrant and world-class city” says Auckland City mayor, John Banks.
The Night Lights show starts at 8.30pm and runs until midnight each night, but Aucklanders can come and go any time. Visit www.nightlights.co.nz or http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=191423305080&ref=mf for more information.
Oxfam and Habitat for Humanity representatives will be at the event and collecting for their Samoa tsunami appeals.
