Australasia New Zealand: hot property
Australasia: hot property
One of the most valuable properties in Australasia has been put up for sale at a secret asking price - Eagles Nest on the Russell peninsula in New Zealand’s stunning Bay of Islands boasts 15 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms and is already attracting interest from investors as far away as the UK and Singapore…
Widely considered to be the most valuable property of its sort in the whole of Australasia, the luxury retreat of Eagles Nest has been put on the market under agents Brown Sotheby, for an undisclosed sum.
The agent will only reveal the asking price to prospective buyers who agree to sign confidentiality agreements and the property may have a new international owner - so far, buyers from America, the UK, Switzerland and Singapore have shown an interest.
Eagles Nest lies on the Tapeka tip of the Russell peninsula in the heart of the sub-tropical paradise of Northland’s Bay of Islands.
The New Zealand property has five private villas, all with outdoor spa, wireless internet access, original artworks, home theatre system and fully-equipped gourmet kitchens.
It is described as a ‘five star hotel, luxury lodge, resort, or holiday home; a multi-award winning 70-acre private retreat offering the ultimate accommodation with five unique villas and private tracks through glorious native bush to sunny, secluded beaches.’
Sounds pretty good to me!
It is also within easy walking distance of the historic town of Russell, the birth place of New Zealand.
Eagles Nest has already had its fair share of fame - not only was it featured on an episode of the American reality dating TV series The Bachelor, it was also named as one of the world’s top 100 hotels by Conde Nast Traveller magazine and Tatler magazine.
Whilst the asking price is a closely guarded secret - sending publicity for the property soaring (as the agents well know), the local council - the Far North District Council offers an indication of the value in its rating roll. It says the capital value is around £1.1 million and the land value is around £550,000.
