Sydney, New South Wales, Australia., January 19, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - Immediate Release.
Australian Artist, JS Gvozden’s most valued artwork, will be exhibited publicly and free, for the first time, but - without his knowledge.
Nineteen of his most precious pieces, have been selected from his private Serbian and Australian collection.
This surprise free public exhibition at the Accelerator Gallery in Pyrmont Sydney Australia (20th – 27th Jan 2013) is the result of a growing interest in JS Gvozden’s work, and the unsuccessful attempts to convince him to display them.
They consist of paintings, photography, and digital art, with variations. He combines the latest technology of digital art, with the more traditional forms of photography, oil and acrylic paintings.
“Gvozden’s ("Ironman" in Serbian) art goes back to his early days as an architect in Serbia, hence his interest in shapes, forms and colours. While studying architecture he focused on the works of abstract expressionists, modern and contemporary art, and great masters such as Da Vinci, Pollack, de Kooning, Rothko and Dali ” wife Svetlana says.
“Some of his recent works are a social commentary on human nature, focussing on people being alienated in bigger and bigger cities.
Caught up in their own mundane repetitive existences, and missing the wonders of a colourful world around them, they are desensitised to the effect that a fast growing population has on nature.”
“But the irony leading to this”, son Marko says, “seems to be the recurring theme of alienation. Where the artist has alienated himself so much from sharing his work with the public, that we’ve resorted to a Surprise Free Public Exhibition of his treasured private works, to allow for a much wider appreciation of his work”.
“You could say this is the classic procrastinator artist – addicted to keeping his treasured pieces private, and hidden in what once was, the spare bedroom. Another Christmas has come and gone, where he says he will exhibit in the new year, and never does, offering naturally, the most creative reasons why. ”
