A super-exciting, truly immersive adventure through two centuries of railway history: that is the star attraction of the Dutch Railway Museum. The journey is so immersive and compelling that the ‘Fire Test’, as it is called, has won a prestigious Thea Award - an ‘Oscar for the entertainment industry’. Barco’s involvement? 18 Barco projectors help bring the Railway’s story to life and fully immerse the visitors into the journey.
Reliable and bright
“We needed a reliable visualization solution that would ensure the bright, crisp, high-contrast display of the images,” explained Museum Director Paul van Vlijmen. “Moreover, the projectors had to be compact, as the space in the museum was limited.” Barco’s set-up of nine F22 WUXGA projectors and WB1920 high-end warp and blend processors, meet all the expectations and ensure an incomparable experience.
Overwhelming sense of pride The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), the association behind the Thea Awards, recognized the Dutch Fire Test in the category ‘4D Simulator Limited Budget’ on account of its outstanding design and detailed implementation. “I feel an overwhelming sense of pride,” said a clearly delighted Paul Van Vlijmen. He will receive the award during an official black-tie gala in California (US), on 5 April next.
