Waltham, MA - December 1, 2008- Awareness, Inc., thesocial media marketingcompany, today announced that Awareness and customer Sg2, a leading global health care intelligence company, were recently recognized by theSociety for New Communications Research(SNCR). Awareness and Sg2 were commended for excellence in external communications, a category that lauds online communities that facilitate company engagement with an outside audience, including customers, partners and prospects.

TheSg2 Community, which is powered by Awareness' on-demandSocial Media Marketing Platform, is an ideal mix of an open and interactive Web 2.0 community. It facilitates communication between health care professionals around the world, but at the same time is secure enough to allow the sharing of oftentimes highly sensitive health care related information. The SNCR Excellence in New Communications Awards gave commendation for the overall success of the Sg2 online community and its demonstration of the value that social media marketing can bring to a business.

"Our social media efforts have been very successful in terms of engaging our members and enabling them to dialogue with each other," said Aaron Schwartz, vice president of Sg2. "Within six months of the launch of our community, more than 10,000 health care professionals from over 1,100 hospitals and health care organizations registered. The community has also had traction with numbers of people who are not even Sg2 clients, which demonstrates its broad appeal and the real value it offers to the health care industry. We're excited about the opportunities social media has presented and honored to have our efforts recognized."

"Sg2 has leveraged the Awareness Social Media Marketing Platform in all the right ways in order to engage with their members and create an open but secure place that stakeholders in the health care community can go to share information and ideas," said Eric Schurr, vice president of marketing and direct sales, Awareness. "As social media becomes an increasingly important part of marketing efforts, it is important to recognize successful case studies and we are proud to be part of SNCR's awards program."

The SNCR Excellence in New Communications Awards program honors individuals, corporations, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and media outlets that are pioneering the use of social media, ICT, mobile media, online communities, virtual worlds, and collaborative technologies in the areas of business, media, journalism and professional communications, entertainment, education, social initiatives, government and politics. This year the Society's Fellows reviewed nearly 100 case study submissions.
