Gassco Gains Simplified Communication and Improved System Availability with Axway 5 Suite
PHOENIX–March 26, 2014 – Citing the critical 24/7 need to send and receive data from gas buyers and sellers, Gassco, a company providing an integrated system for transporting natural gas from the Norwegian continental shelf to European countries, turned to Axway (NYSE Euronext: AXW.PA), a market leader in governing the flow of data, to provide reliable and secure B2B integration. To improve the communication among sites, Gassco needed a solution that could support business critical processes and provide real time insight into the data the company and its sellers rely on to supply natural gas to European countries. To satisfy the business and succeed in efficiently governing the flow of data, Gassco migrated to Axway B2Bi, a solution in the Axway 5 Suite.
About 3,000 messages are seamlessly converted each day with Axway B2Bi to deliver the necessary data to terminals so the correct gas quantity is distributed without fail to each individual European country. With Axway B2Bi, support for the secure communication protocol, AS2, is built in, an essential requirement that Gassco demands when communicating with its customers to ensure the delivery of their product.
“The Axway B2Bi solution is a key system for Gassco’s 24/7 business,” said Arne Ferkingstad, B2Bi production manager, Gassco. “We absolutely needed a reliable and secure B2B data flow broker and that’s what we have with Axway B2Bi.”
Axway B2Bi enables end-to-end data flow governance across the enterprise and B2B communities, with the ability to easily on-board and effectively manage new partners and customers. Traffic at Gassco is growing constantly, as new shippers are added to the system. Gassco works with more than 100 external partners and uses 130 mapping formats. Gassco was able to consolidate and modernize its infrastructure with Axway B2Bi, a solution that easily handles the high volumes, formats and protocols of Gassco’s messages and is designed to scale with the business.
“We had 130 mappings that had to be converted to B2Bi. The conversion of the mappings was a huge success. It was done remarkably smoothly, which was very impressive,” said Ferkingstad. “Axway B2Bi helps us extract data and provide feedback to our partners. It acts like a business intelligence tool — a data mining solution.”
“For Gassco the need to govern the flow of data 24/7 within numerous divisions, subsidiaries and external partners was crucial, as was the need for a simple and seamless migration process,” said David Robinson, senior vice president, sales, North Europe at Axway. “We are pleased that we were able to provide them with Axway B2Bi, a reliable, consolidated and modernized singular solution, rather than several systems.”
