Ayr College student, 20 year old Chelsea White, originally from South Africa now Ayr, will become the first student to graduate with distinction from the college’s new Bachelor of Business Administration course, delivered as part of Heriot Watt University’s Management Programme, at the annual graduation ceremony on October 31st.

Ayr College is the first college in Scotland to work in partnership with Heriot Watt delivering the Bachelor of Business Administration course and was this year ranked as their overall top performing partner, both nationally and internationally. Chelsea will graduate alongside five other classmates and the rest of the college’s graduating student body at the ceremony in Ayr’s Town Hall.

Chelsea said: “I was really pleased to have the opportunity to complete a degree through Ayr College. Everything I need is here; my friends and my family, all the course materials are provided there are no costly books to buy. I really enjoyed the course although it was very hard work, and I had to do a lot of studying as well as attending classes. The lecturers are very helpful and supportive which makes all the difference.”

The Bachelor of Business Administration course, which is taught on a full time basis from the college’s Dam Park Campus, covers areas including Business Strategy, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Law and International Business Management. The course is taught over a one year period and requires an entry level of an HND business related subject.

Jeanette McCulloch, Ayr College’s Business, Accounting and Financial Services Curriculum Manager, said: “We have offered similar part time courses in the past but this is the first year this particular programme has run. We are very pleased to be working with Herriot Watt University to offer this exciting new course as students can now progress on to the Bachelor of Business Administration course from HND Business Administration.

“The Bachelor of Business Administration class have done fantastically well and they all should be very proud, as we are, with what they have achieved. We wish them all the best of luck in the future.”

On successful completion of the Bachelor of Business Administration course, students can apply to post-graduate study at Heriot Watt University or seek employment in supervisory positions.

Ayr College will also be offering students this academic year degree courses in Management and Accountancy and Finance as part of the Heriot Watt Management programme.
