Banker, Author and Social Media Expert Shares Expertise with Bank Directors
Redondo Beach, CA – Jesse Torres, banker, author and social media expert, shared his expertise with bank directors in the recent issue of Bank Director Magazine (www.BankDirector.com). In “The Next Generation of Banking: Is Your Institution Ready for Them?,” Mr. Torres explains banks’ need to change in order to remain relevant in a world changed by Web 2.0.
“Banks must come to the realization that the effectiveness of traditional forms of marketing continues to erode as consumers increasingly seek information from peer-to-peer networks and other forms of social media such as Kudzu, Facebook and MySpace,” said Mr. Torres. “As this trend continues, marketing efforts and strategies must be retooled to regain the ear of the consumer. Unfortunately for traditional marketers, this retooling requires putting the consumer in control and providing transparency and honesty in delivering the message.”
Within the Bank Director Magazine article, Mr. Torres states that apart from honesty and transparency, the marketer must reach out to the consumer by appealing to the consumer’s value system. This includes the development of marketing campaigns that appeal to the consumer at a level that the consumer feels compelled to share the message with others – a practice referred to as viral marketing. Marketers must get creative about how they approach consumers in order to achieve results.
Mr. Torres is the author of The Community Banker’s Guide to Social Network Marketing. In the Guide Mr. Torres addresses social networks, user demographics and the role of social networks within the greater sphere of social media. Also addressed at length is the development of viral marketing programs, consumer advocacy, conversational marketing, metrics and common pitfalls.
Mr. Torres makes available a free copy of The Community Banker’s Guide to Social Network Marketing at http://www.tinyurl.com/cbgsnm. Mr. Torres also announced the forthcoming release of his new book, Social Network Marketing: Unlocking the Value of the Community.
