Bangalore, 24 Sept 2011: BASE, the city based premier organization that trains students for competitive examinations like IIT-JEE, CET, AIEEE and Foundation courses, has launched BASE@Home programs to leverage the availability of Broadband internet to coach students who have difficulty accessing the classroom programs, overcoming geographical boundaries.

Mr. Vallish Herur, Director, BASE, speaking about the programme said, "BASE has always been at the forefront of leveraging technology to train students effectively. BASE@Home is a futuristic programme which will help students who are not able to access BASE training due to various reasons such as unavailability of a BASE Centre, time constraints etc. The programme will help students, especially in smaller towns of Karnataka, who have to travel to cities such as Bangalore for quality competitive examination training."

The BASE@Home programme will be Live and interactive, similar to normal classroom programmes. The teachers and students will be able to communicate with each other through a two way audio-video facility. The students will have access to the same teachers who have been training students at BASE successfully for many years. In addition to the live classroom sessions, the students will have access to online tests and solutions. A special feature will be the availability of video based solutions to problems.

"Printed and on-line course ware along with additional video based recorded pre-class sessions will be posted on the website days before a class takes place. This will help a student to prepare adequately before going into the class and make the classroom session an interactive one. Tests will be provided online and a student gets instantaneous feedback on his performance and will be able to benchmark himself against a larger community of students" Vallish added.

The students are provided additional support through emails, and Discussion forums. The forum gives students the opportunity to solve and contribute solutions to problems or questions posted by other students.  Students are provided a number of tests –unit tests and full length tests -just as in the regular BASE programmes. A student is expected to either own or have access to a computer with broadband internet connection. BASE will be launching BASE@Home with one year Excel CET and Two year PreUni Plus programs this year.

About BASE: BASE started functioning in the year 1991 from its present premises in Basavanagudi in Bangalore. It was started by Dr. H.S. Nagaraja with the intention of increasing the number of students from Karnataka gaining entrance into IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and NITs (National Institute of Technology). From a modest strength of 4 faculty members and 3 students, BASE has now grown to include 150 teaching faculty and multiple programmes for students from class 5 to 2nd PU/Class12. BASE trains students to qualify in  the entrance examinations of world renowned centres of learning such as the IITs of India. BASE has consistently performed since its inception both in terms of growth and an astounding share in the number of BASE students gaining entrance into the IITs and NITs. It is a proud fact that each year, the number of BASE students qualifying to the IITs is more than that of all other institutions in Karnataka put together.
