Batteries Plus Franchise Opens Record Number of Stores in 2009; Store Sales Continue to Climb Despite Economy
Fastest Growing U.S. Battery Retailer Thrives in Tough Economy, Opens More than 40 Stores
Hartland, WI – While many companies are struggling during the current economic conditions Batteries Plus, the nation’s largest all battery retailer, recorded its best year in company history.
In 2009, Batteries Plus, the nation’s first all-battery franchise with more than 384 locations, enjoyed its most successful year in the company’s more than 20 year history. The franchise company opened 43 new stores, signed 40 franchise deals for another 52 stores and saw the continuation of double-digit same store retail sales, a trend that is now four years running. Batteries Plus plans to open more than 40 additional retail stores in 2010.
The all-battery franchise is seeing that record openings, strong sales and a necessity product have contributed to an unprecedented interest in the Batteries Plus franchise opportunity particularly among candidates who are shying away from struggling concepts.
“This has been a historic year for our company,” said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus. “To open more stores this past year than ever before and have continued double-digit retail sales growth shows how hard everyone associated with our company has worked. Having sold more than 50 million batteries this year, we’re proof that the demand for batteries is stronger than ever before and we will continue to thrive to be the first place where people look for them.”
The U.S. battery industry was estimated at $24 billion in 2009, and future growth in the market will be driven by the steady demand for battery powered electronic devices such as mp3 players, laptop computers, digital cameras and camcorders.
“The consistent demand for battery products and services, high level of support and training and national brand recognition has made Batteries Plus one of the nation’s top franchise opportunities,” Reynolds said. “Batteries have become something that people cannot live without. Many people may cut back on going out to dinner or vacations, but they will never stop driving their cars or using their laptops and cell phones. Batteries are here to stay and with every new product, comes a new battery.”
The impressive increase in same store retail sales and demand for batteries has made Batteries Plus one of the most attractive and exciting franchise opportunities on the market, eclipsing other types of concepts not faring as well in the current economic climate.
“The recent downturn of the economy has potential franchisees looking toward sustainable and fast-growing concepts like Batteries Plus, which continues to flourish in the growing $24 billion battery market,” Reynolds said.
