BECTU rep wins Wales TUC award

Nicola Savage, a BECTU repesentative at BBC Cardiff, is the Wales TUC's Student Representative of the Year for 2014.

Nicola, who has been studying for a Diploma in Employment Law with the TUC at Coleg Gwent since September 2013 was nominated for outstanding achievement throughout the course. The award ceremony took place on 26 June. 

Welcoming the news Gerry Morrissey, general secretary said:

"BECTU is pleased to send its warm congratulations to Nicola on her award. Trade union education is increasingly important to our effectiveness in the workplace. But the benefits don't stop there; trade union learning can result in long-lasting personal fulfillment.

"We wish Nicola every success with the remainder of her course; we know that BECTU members at BBC Cardiff will be better served for Nicola's investment and we thank her."

Nicola has been invited to take part in a TUC case study in September to discuss her working life at the BBC and the support she offers to BECTU members.
