Bible Study Magazine was named as one of the 10 best new magazines launched in 2008 by Library Journal, the oldest and most respected publication covering the library field.

Washington based Bible Study Magazine is one of ten magazines selected as “Best of 2008” in the May issue of Library Journal.

“We’re honored to be included on Library Journal’s list,” said John Barry, Associate Editor. “Library Journal is a publication written to and by people who interact with tons of periodicals on a daily basis. It really says something about your magazine when it catches their eye.”

Bible Study Magazine, which delivers tools and methods for Bible study, as well as insights from respected voices in the church and biblical scholarship, was launched in November 2008 by Logos Bible Softwarelittlecover.gif.

“Over 500 magazines closed their doors last year, so launching in 2008 was risky,” said Barry. “But we defied the odds by throwing out standard magazine business models—we are subscriber revenue driven, rather than advertising based. Plus, we marketed our publication almost entirely online without a single business reply card. Our business success, and awards like the one from Library Journal, tell us we’re on the right path.”

In his review of the magazine, Library Journal’s Steve Black gave high praise for the magazine saying, “[T]his colorful popular pub is to Bible studies what Scientific American is to science or Psychology Today is to psychology. A thoughtful bridge between the work of scholars and laypersons looking for a deeper understanding of biblical texts.”

Bible Study Magazine has over 10,000 subscribers and anticipates more than doubling that number in 2009.
