Hollywood producer launches new media company providing a free platform for individuals to host their own shows.

Los Angeles, CA)—The official beta launch of BigIsGood.tv (BigTV), a new web video site and brainchild of prolific Hollywood producer Lauren Lloyd is underway. The platform is centered on “hosted programming” and is eager to establish itself among the elite ranks of other successful social media sites.

Lloyd is a 25-year veteran of the Hollywood trenches, climbing her way out to become a much sought-after producer, her first credited movie being the venerable Mermaids starring Cher. Her projects, which include Mel Gibson’s mega-hit The Patriot have gone on to gross over 1 billion dollars in worldwide box office.

BigTV’s cachet is hosted programming. “We’re about ultra-passionate people, who want to host their own shows,” says Lloyd. For the foreseeable future the company will hold onto this unique distinction, moving away from the scaled-down versions of scripted entertainment that now over-populates the web. BigTV’s intention is to find hosts with compelling passions and perspectives and then shoot or aggregate 12-episode arcs that explore them, on topics that range from beer enthusiasts to kitsch art lovers to high-end shoe fanatics, the idea being to cultivate enthusiastic audience bases that form around these personalities and interests.

The site is open to partnerships and content aggregation aside from what it creates in-house with its experienced staff of directors and editors, but it is also curated and not open to everyone. To this end the company believes quality content geared toward a more discerning and focused user base is the wave of the future, a point driven home by Lloyd when she says, “this site was created by entertainment people, those of us whose livelihood was based on having a good eye for strong material, the same eyes that will be all over this site. Do you feel you haven’t been able to get yourself or your idea noticed? Well, over at BigTV, our philosophy is ‘let’s see what you got’.”
