Booming Industry Draws Turkish Metalworking Companies to Germany
02/01/2011
Berlin/Istanbul – With 4.5 and 2.3 percent GDP growth respectively, Turkey and Germany are projected to be two of the fastest growing European countries in 2011. Turkish metalworking companies are increasingly looking to Germany as an investment location, while Germany is already the number one customer of Turkish-made goods and a top machinery and metalworking industry location. Representatives fromGermany Trade & Investwill be at this year’s WIN – World of Industry Part 1: Metalworking conference from February 3-6, 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey, at the German Pavilion in Hall 2, booth C-130.
Oliver Seiler, Director of Mechanical and Electronic Technologies atGermany Trade & Investin Berlin: “Germany’s economy is currently growing at a pace not seen here in the last twenty years. Demand for top quality machinery and equipment is one of the key growth drivers.”
In 2009 – at the height of the economic downturn – the number of investment projects by Turkish companies in Germany tripled compared to the previous year. More than one third of all Turkish investment projects in Europe went to Germany. Currently there are over 550 Turkish companies doing business in Germany.
“We have seen an increasing number of Turkish companies interested in Germany. The machinery and equipment industry and the metalworking segment are among Germany’s classic industries. At the same time, Turkey has become a strong player. Establishing a business in Germany gives Turkish companies distinct advantages, especially access to the well developed market for suppliers and producers,” Seiler continues.
