Washington, D.C. - Former Governors Haley Barbour and Ed Rendell and former Secretaries Henry Cisneros and Condoleezza Rice, co-chairs of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Immigration Task Force, released the following statement today:

“It is disappointing that in spite of overwhelming bipartisan consensus among the general public on the need for immigration reform, momentum has stalled.

“The current crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border must be addressed, but it is a symptom, not the cause, of our broken system.

“The only way to a permanent solution is a bipartisan law forged through determined efforts by both Congress and the White House. The need for reform is just as present today as ever.”
