GSA Selects Brainshark as SaaS Leader in Support of Initiative to Increase Federal Government Access to Cost-Effective Productivity Solutions
WALTHAM, Mass. — December 9, 2009 — Brainshark, Inc., the leader inon-demand presentations, today announced it has been selected for inclusion in the General Services Administration’s (GSA) cloud computing storefront,Apps.gov. Among the earliest of applications selected for inclusion on the recently launched Apps.gov portal, Brainshark Standard Edition can now be easily accessed by government agencies seeking to extend the reach of their communications, and reduce the cost and time of travel.
Apps.gov enables federal government organizations to easily purchase cloud computing applications for which the GSA has already negotiated terms of service. Now, government agencies have a streamlined, hassle-free mechanism for accessing and purchasing Brainshark, and can immediately realize the benefits of usingmultimedia presentationsto increase communications effectiveness, speed and measurability. Brainshark makes it fast and easy for anyone to create and deliver voice-enriched presentations that are available online, on demand. It is particularly compelling for distributing rapid communications to a dispersed audience, launching training programs, reducing costly and time-consuming travel, and delivering ongoing communications such as procedure and policy information, project updates, and messages for constituents and stakeholders.

The Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council, under the guidance of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Federal CIO Vivek Kundra, established the Cloud Computing Initiative to fulfill the president's objectives for cloud computing. According to the Apps.gov Web site, its overall objective is to create a more agile federal enterprise, where services can be provisioned to meet business needs. The cloud computing model offers a cost-effective, service-oriented approach for sharing computing resources, whereby common infrastructure, applications, information and solutions can be utilized across the government. The SaaS model is a form of service delivery of cloud computing as defined by theNational Institute of Standards and Technology.
