December 9, 2013Briggs & Stratton engines are powering the latest offerings in outdoor power equipment from first-of-its-kind products like the Toro® SmartStow™ Lawn Mower featuring Briggs & Stratton Mow ‘n’ Stow™ technology, to the Briggs & Stratton POWERflow+ Gas Pressure Washer and the Simplicity Prestige™ Tractor consumers have come to rely on. And the newest innovations are being recognized as top products in the outdoor power equipment industry.

Made possible with Briggs & Stratton Mow ‘n’ Stow technology, the Toro SmartStow is the first-to-market lawn mower capable of being stored upright with a 70 percent reduction in footprint. Key changes in engine design such as a unique fuel tank design, “no weep” carburetor and improved seals and gaskets enable gas and oil to stay in their respective places, helping prevent leakage.

The new Briggs & Stratton POWERflow+ Technology is available on select gas pressure washers and features a patent-pending pressure washer pump with two cleaning modes, high pressure and high flow. The pressure washers are powered by the Briggs & Stratton Professional Series™ OHV engine and includes a specially designed 30 ft. hose and a custom-engineered POWERflow+ gun with soft grip handle. The breakthrough pressure washer propels the stream up to 30 ft. with the same impact as a standard pressure washer at 15 feet.

The Simplicity Prestige Tractor features a Briggs & Stratton Professional Series™ V-TWIN engine, which offers consistent automotive-style starting through electronically controlled fuel management and a mechanical compression release for reliable starting in all temperatures. The garden tractor also features push button start for quick, easy starting, a Tuff Torq® hydrostatic transmission and locking differential and a 50-inch deck with electrically controlled variable-height adjustment.

All three products were included by Popular Mechanics in its “10 Best Tools From the Outdoor Power Equipment Show” feature from the recent Green Industry and Equipment Expo in Louisville, Ky.

“Building better outdoor power equipment begins from the engine up,” said Carissa Gingras, director of marketing, Consumer Engine & Service at Briggs & Stratton Corporation. “We’re delighted that these products were recognized for their innovations and are excited to share even more game-changing engine breakthroughs in the coming months.”
