British High Commissioner inaugurates new British School building

H.E. Sir James David Bevan KCMG, British High Commissioner to Idnia, inaugurated thenew building at Chanakyapuri amidst school officials, teachers, students and parents.



New Delhi, Delhi, India, August 5, 2014 - (PressReleasePoint) -Students of The British School, New Delhi, now have a new, state-of-the-art building with world class facilites. H.E. Sir James David Bevan KCMG, British High Commissioner to India, inaugurated the new building at Chanakyapuri amidst school officials, teachers, students and parents.

Speaking at the occasion, Sir Bevan said that he was honored to inagurate the school. 'It sends out a powerful message to everyone that the next 50 years will be special and even more succesful. Buildings are really important in shaping the future of the existing students and of the students to come in the near future,' he added.

The new infrastructure emphasises on making the learning process a motivaing and engaging one for students. 'The wish to build on the student-centred approach by offering a stimulating environment in which they can thrive by developing both their intellecual and social skills; the new facilities will help us do just that' said the Director, Dr Nick Argent.

The building, designed to been eco-friendly and 'green', has been accredited under the stringent GRIHA rating. It boasts of double walled construction for heat insulation, high efficency air-condtioning sysems, solar energy usage, and watse water recycling and treatment.

Ample play areas have been provided for Nursery ad Reception classes with generous breakout spaces on ever floor for all year groups. An improved library will see the primary and secondary sections locaed in one vertical stack linked by a dedicated stairway.

In closing Dr Agent said,'We had been looking forward to this move with great enthusiasm and are delighted that the new buildng enhances our ability to offer students in Delhi a first class international educaion.'

The building has been designed by Morphogenesis, one of Inda's leading architectural practices.
