BRT Announces Mezzanine loan and Joint Venture.
Great Neck, New York, June 11, 2001 -- BRT Realty Trust (NYSE:BRT)announced that it made a $2.95 million mezzanine loan on a 248 unit garden apartment complex in Atlanta, Georgia. As part of the transaction, a subsidiary of BRT also purchased a 50% equity interest in the borrower.
Commenting on the loan, Jeffrey A. Gould, President and Chief Operating Officer of BRT, noted that the loan continues BRT's desire to lend on quality income-producing properties and where appropriate to participate in the equity portion of a transaction as well. BRT's principal business activity is originating and holding for its own account short-term mortgage loans.
