CALIPER CEO KEVIN HRUSOVSKY PRESENTED VISION FOR REVOLUTIONIZING MEDICINE

(NASDAQ: CALP), a leading provider of tools and services for life science companies, today announced that Kevin Hrusovsky, President and CEO of Caliper delivered a keynote address at the BioConference Live event, which was held on October 26, and participated in the Personalized Medicine Panel during the World Health Forum on October 27 held at Harvard Medical School.

 

The keynote titled, “A Revolution in Personalized Medicine - from Concept to Reality,” highlighted the “sick” state of our current healthcare system, given the high cost of care and the lack of effective result for the patient. The keynote described what aspects of medical innovation are working and where excess treatment may actually be harmful to the patient. For example, on average only 25 percent of oncology therapeutic treatments are effective, and all patients are potentially harmed by the side effects of disease treatment. This forward looking presentation provided a view to the tools and techniques that will transform healthcare, focusing on innovative technologies in areas like genomic analysis, biomarkers, and imaging that will improve the ability to detect disease at earlier levels and determine the appropriate individualized treatments necessary to ensure the most beneficial patient outcome. Hrusovsky also described advancements in biotherapeutics, targeted small molecules, and regenerative medicine that will provide physicians with better treatment options for their patients.
