Chennai, India – March 19, 2009: Calsoftlabs wholly owned subsidiary of global product engineering company California Software Company Limited, today announced the availability of Flash Lite 3.1 Windows CE plug-in for Internet Explorer
Calsoftlabs, an authorized Adobe Flash Lite distributor, today announced the availability of the Flash Lite 3.1 plug-in for Windows CE. Flash Lite is an optimized version of popular desktop Flash player by Adobe and is targeted towards mobile and embedded market. Calsoftlabs already offers a standalone version of Flash Lite 3 player that can be used for user interface (UI) as well as games and applications.
The Flash Lite plug-in will facilitate users to view sites such as youtube.com using Internet Explorer on Windows CE devices. The plug-in will play Flash 9 content as long as it is written using Actionscript 2. Microsoft's Windows CE operating system is used with a wide range of devices such as netbooks, kiosks, networked media and consumer electronic devices.
"In the absence of Flash player, users were restricted in the amount of web content they could browse on Windows CE devices", said Anand Joshi, Director of Mobile and Embedded Division at Calsoft. "This port allows users to access a wide range of rich content on the web and experience web to the fullest. Due to portable architecture of Flash Lite 3, it is possible to create a plug-in on a very tight schedule to meet market requirements".
The port is available immediately and will start shipping in production devices in Q2/2009.
