Campbell Soup Company Sponsors Camden Exhibit At Philadelphia Flower Show
"Soup & Salad" Garden to Find Permanent Home at Campbell's Headquarters
CAMDEN, N.J. Feb. 26, 2010-Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) is the sponsor of "Soup & Salad: From Camden to the World" an exhibit at the 2010 Philadelphia Flower Show. The "Soup & Salad" garden will find a permanent home at the new Campbell Employee Center, currently under construction at the company's headquarters.
The exhibit is being produced by the Camden City Garden Club and the Camden Children's Garden and will be on display at the Philadelphia Flower Show from Feb. 28 through Mar. 7 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Aimed at promoting nutrition and the accessibility of fresh and healthy food, this year's exhibit represents a children's vegetable garden and focuses on the variety of vegetables grown throughout the South Jersey region. The display aims to educate visitors about how to grow and prepare their own vegetables, even in an urban setting.
According to the garden's designers, "salad" specifically symbolizes the mission of the Camden City Garden Club and its ever-expanding Community Gardening Program. The "soup" component of the exhibit represents Campbell Soup Company, founded in Camden in 1869, and The Campbell Soup Foundation, a long-time supporter of the Camden City Garden Club, Camden Children's Garden and other nonprofit organizations in the city.
The new Campbell Employee Center is scheduled to open in June 2010.
Background on Campbell's Expansion in Camden
In February 2007, Campbell announced plans to expand and enhance its World Headquarters. Campbell revised its plans in February 2008, broke ground on the 80,000-square foot Campbell Employee Center in October 2008 and completed the steel phase of construction in April 2009.
Plans call for an adjacent office park set on approximately 100 acres, with Campbell's campus covering approximately 40 acres. Most of the parcels to be included in the proposed office park previously contained vacant and neglected buildings and empty lots.
Campbell is investing approximately $90 million in the project, including its new facility, 40-acre campus and the planned office park; government agencies are investing approximately $23 million to upgrade roadways and other utilities in the area.

About the Community Gardening Program of the Camden City Garden Club
The Community Gardening Program of the Camden City Garden Club and the Camden Children's Garden is celebrating its 26th season of helping to nourish and beautify the Camden community. Through this program, Camden residents learn as they work hand-in-hand with the Garden Club to create and maintain scores of food-producing community garden sites. Club members clean up trash-strewn lots and help renovate them into productive community gardens. In turn, this helps rejuvenate neighborhoods and promote healthy lifestyles. In a city like Camden, where there is an overabundance of empty, trash-strewn lots - more than 4,000 city-owned lots and another 8,000 abandoned lots - neighborhoods are being transformed through the Club's gardening projects and tree plantings. The Club is operated from the Camden Children's Garden on the Camden Waterfront. The Community Gardening Program is supported by grants from the William Penn Foundation and other private funders.
