CampusEAI Implements Sun®EIDM With High Availability And Integration To myCampus Portal, Active Directory®, Datatel®, Gmail®and Sakai®

November 24, 2009 -CampusEAI Consortium announced today the successful implementation of Sun®Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) for Antioch University.

After an initial assessment, CampusEAI Professional Services team determined that Antioch University needed to integrate an EIDM solution that would manage the provisioning and de-provisioning of users from a variety of Antioch University's applications including:

Following the initial assessment, In March 2009, Antioch University awarded the CampusEAI Consortium a Professional Services contract to implement Sun®EIDM and provide the following services:

  • Integrate Datatel®with Sun®EIDM by implementing CampusEAI's Middleware IDM reference layer
  • Integrate Sun®IDM with Gmail®
  • Enhance performance of user synchronization in Sun®EIDM
  • Define and implement business processes related to the provisioning and de-provisioning services for Active Directory®, Google®Apps®Gmail®, Sakai®, Library Services, myCampus Portal and the Sun®Open Directory Server®
  • Setup and Configuration the Sun®EIDM infrastructure to support Development, QA and Production environments
  • Integrate Sun®Open Directory Server®LDAP to serve as the Centralized User Repository for myCampus Portal, Sakai®and Library services
  • Configure Sun®Open Directory Server®High Availability with multi-master replication implementation to achieve redundancy
  • Centralize user creation, modification and disabling for all university services through Sun®EIDM
  • Centralize Password Management to maintain user security throughout the EIDM system
  • Configure Password Synchronization to enable user password changes from local domain machines
  • Implement a highly available Hardware Load Balancing solution in front of the LDAP servers to better scalability

With a dedicated CampusEAI Identity Management team comprised of three Senior IDM Consultants, a Senior DBA and a Senior Designer, CampusEAI implemented the Sun®EIDM solution meeting the requirements above and as a result Antioch realized the following benefits:

  • Increased User Record Synchronization performance across all Antioch University campuses
  • Access to employee and student records accessible from the Datatel®through Sun®EIDM
  • Automated access for employees and students to different applications including Active Directory®, Sakai®and Gmail®.
  • Dynamic role-based access to the myCampus Portal for employees and students
  • Effective and efficient management of a Centralized User Identity.
  • Decreased administration cost

Following the release, CampusEAI now serves as the primary support provider for Sun®EIDM and is responsible for upgrades, applying patches and enhancements. Additionally, CampusEAI supporting the integration between Antioch's back-end systems and Sun®EIDM.
